Zargothrax — A prolonged stalemate in the Thraxian Civil War has been broken after forces loyal to the self-proclaimed Queen Leila launched an offensive against territory controlled by her father, King Shapur, forcing his troops to retreat along the country’s western coast. The advance marks the first significant territorial movement in the conflict since November 2024, when three rival factions consolidated their positions following the outbreak of fighting. Leila’s forces have pushed south through Shapurian territory, while a separate contingent in the south is advancing northwards, apparently seeking to connect two areas under the faction’s control.
The renewed fighting represents a significant challenge to King Shapur, one of three members of the same royal family claiming authority over Zargothrax. The third faction, led by King Navid, has maintained its own territorial position throughout the conflict.
Despite being the nominal leader of her faction, fourteen-year-old Leila is widely believed to exercise little independent authority. Control of her forces passed to unidentified figures following the killing of former Chief Advisor Jared Hashemi in July 2025, when territory previously held by Hashemi came under Leila’s banner without any change to the front lines. The identity of those directing the faction remains unresolved. Speculation has implicated foreign governments, mercenary groups, and former intelligence operatives, although none of these claims has been substantiated.
The latest offensive ends more than a year of largely static front lines, during which the competing factions concentrated on consolidating their respective territories rather than attempting further expansion. It remains unclear whether Leila’s forces can sustain their advance or whether the offensive will prompt a broader resumption of fighting across the country.
