Police Investigate Suspected Arson at Foris Apartment Building

Foris — Officers with the Novum Aeternum State Police have launched an arson investigation after a fire swept through an apartment building in Foris early on Tuesday morning, forcing dozens of residents to evacuate and leaving several people requiring hospital treatment. Emergency services were called to the four-storey residential building shortly after 2am, following reports of smoke spreading through the ground-floor entrance and stairwell. Firefighters brought the blaze under control before it reached the upper floors, although smoke damage has left much of the building temporarily uninhabitable.

Three residents were taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation, with none believed to be in a life-threatening condition. More than forty people were evacuated, several of whom were forced to leave their homes without collecting personal belongings. Investigators have since identified what they believe to be evidence of deliberate ignition near the building’s main entrance. Police have cordoned off the affected area while forensic officers examine the scene and review security footage from nearby properties.

Residents told SNT that the building’s entrance had been the scene of several disturbances in recent weeks, although police have not confirmed whether these incidents are connected to the fire.

Local authorities are working with the building’s management to arrange temporary accommodation for displaced residents, while structural and fire safety assessments are carried out. It remains unclear when occupants will be permitted to return. Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area during the early hours of Tuesday morning to come forward.
